Three documents with similar names do very different jobs. Here is which one is official, which one you can use as ID, and which is just a handy reference.
People often confuse the official digital voter ID, the slip distributed before elections and printable reference cards from websites like ours. They are not interchangeable.
| Document | Issued by | Valid as identity proof? |
|---|---|---|
| Voter ID card (EPIC) | Election authorities | Yes |
| e-EPIC (digital voter ID) | ECI, via the Voters’ Services Portal | Yes, as a digital version of the EPIC |
| Voter information slip | Election officials, before polling | No — it is for information only |
| VoterCard information card | This independent website | No — it is a personal reference copy |
e-EPIC
The e-EPIC is an official, non-editable PDF version of your voter ID card. You can download it from the Voters’ Services Portal using the mobile number linked to your voter record. It can be saved on your phone or printed.
Official voter information slip
Before an election, election officials usually distribute voter information slips showing your polling station and serial number. It is a helpful reminder, but it is not accepted as a standalone identity document at the polling station.
VoterCard information card
The card you can download on this website is an independent reference copy of the details returned by ECI’s electoral search. It is useful for keeping your constituency, part number and polling station in one place. It is not an official document and cannot be used as identity proof or to vote.
Always confirm official procedures on ECI’s websites. Rules, forms and accepted documents can change between elections.
